It was great to see the night passing without needing any Garda attendance.
This blog contains some thoughts and some photos I took.
Outside of my family and friends, my main interests are Ardee, cars, motorbikes & photography.
If those things don't interest you then you’re probably wasting your time going any further.

17/03/19 - Ardee St Patricks Day Parade
As usual the town was draped in sunshine although we did have a few nervous moments throughout the afternoon. It's always a great spectacle to watch with all of the local business , clubs and associations turning up to support it.

10/03/19 - Cars And Coffee North East Video
This is something that I've wanted to do for ages.
It took a lot of trial and error, mostly error to get to this stage.
I love the variety of cars that turn out each month for the Cars And Coffee North East meet.
All of the footage was shot with a DJI Osmo Pocket and edited with Da Vinci Resolve 15.

17/03/15 - 2015 St Patrick's Day Parade
Throwback to the 2015 St Patrick's Day Parade in Ardee, the first time that I shot the parade for the treasured ThisIsArdee website.
Roll on tomorrow, I'll have photos of the parade online later in the evening.

1994 West Cork Rally
We enjoyed some great trips down to West Cork in the early 90s for the West Cork Rally. Here's my photos with from the 1994 event. It's hard to believe they are 25 years old.
Many thanks to Kevin O'Driscoll for scanning the films for me a few years ago.

10/03/19 - Frank Meagher Tribute
Time and tide wait for no man as the saying goes and it's definitely true when you consider that it is 17 years since the untimely passing of Frank Meagher in a testing accident.
Frank was the undisputed people's champion in rallying and he achieved phenomenal results on a shoestring budget in comparison to his rivals, which culminated in winning the Dunlop Tarmac Rally Championship in 1995. I was lucky enough to work for him that year, helping with media duties. Unfortunately, I haven't got around to scanning the films from 1995 yet.
Here are my favourite photos of him from the early 90s.
(Apologies that the photo sequence is out of sync)

05/03/19 - O'Flahertys Classic Mercedes Collection - 1911 Benz 8/18
There's an exciting prospect for classic and vintage car lovers in Ireland this year with the news that the O'Flaherty Classic Mercedes Collection will go on display over the course of the year at the premises of MSL Ballsbridge.
The first car to go on display is a stunning 1911 Benz 8/18, which was fitted with a 1950cc 4 cylinder engine that produced 18bhp at 1800 rpm. Maybe it's a good thing that it wasn't so powerful, because it was only fitted with brakes to the rear wheels and they were applied by a leather belt being pressed against the transmission.
This car has been owned by some of Ireland's best known automotive collectors down through the years and is believed to be the only one in existence now. It was owned by the late Phil Monahan from 1988 to 1993 before he sold it to a UK collector who undertook an extensive and sympathetic restoration. It was bought at auction in the UK by Denis Dowdall on behalf of MDL in 2001.

03/03/19- Cars And Coffee North East
We were a bit nervous in the run up to the event as there was a storm due to sweep across the country but lucky enough it held off until after the show. Any fears that the storm would affect the turnout on the day were answered before 11am , because the main car park was full of top quality motors to see.

03/03/19 - Cars And Coffee North East - 2 wheel demon
This machine rocked up to Cars And Coffee this morning and it just blew my mind. It has to be the best condition Ducati 916 that I've ever seen. The 916 is widely recognized as one of the most beautiful motorcycles ever built and this machine has lost none of it's beauty since it rolled off the Ducati line 1995.
I loved it that much, I decided to give it it's own mini album.

02/03/19 - The Carole Nash Irish Motorbike & Scooter Show
I had a quick run around the show this morning, it's always worth a visit and this year didn't disappoint. The Honda NR750 was the star of the show for me, but seeing Barry Sheene's bikes there on the Kells Road Races stand was a close runner up.
